WEG is investing in a new powder and industrial liquid paint factory in Atotonilco de Tula, Hidalgo State, Mexico. Expected to start operating in April 2020, the factory will have 5,000 square meters of built area and the capacity to produce 200 tons of powder coatings and 100 thousand liters of liquid paints per month.
According to Reinaldo Richter, Managing Director of WEG Coatings, the investment is an important step in the process of verticalization and expansion of the WEG product portfolio in the region. “The new plant in Mexico is part of the paint business expansion plan. In addition to expanding our participation in the local market, which still presents good opportunities, we will be able to strengthen our international distribution capacity, mainly to Central America and the United States ”, explains the executive.
The Company currently serves the Mexican paint market with exports from Brazil and with inventories in the country. "This investment is also a response to our Mexican customers for the excellent acceptance of our products in the country," adds Richter.
Expected to generate 90 new jobs, the new coating factory is being built in the municipality of Atotonilco de Tula, where the Company already has other operations.
WEG has been in Mexico since 2000 and has four manufacturing units in the country: two in Huehuetoca, producers of electric motors and transformers, one in Tizayuca, specialized in the manufacture of transformers, and one in Atotonilco de Tula, where the company has a foundry, a machining center and an electrical panel shop.
