Producing oil seven thousand meters deep has already become a reality and, puts Brazil in a strategic position. Today Petrobras is already producing over 200 thousand barrels of oil daily in the pre-salt and the estimate is to reach one million barrels a day in 2017. WEG is present in the exploration of the pre-salt with products such as Master Line MGW800 motors, which will be part of the project of eight FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) type platforms to operate on the Guará and Tupi oil fields in the Santos Basin - Brazil. The first batch of eight motors was delivered in October and the others will be delivered every five months up to 2015.
The motors will drive centrifugal compressors of the gas compression modules on the eight platforms and represent the main electrical loads of those vessels. The function of these motors is to supply the driving force required for the operation of the eight gas compressors of each platform of the project.
It is the first It is the first large scale commercial exploration project of exploration of the pre-salt oil fields in the Santos Basin. Furthermore, it is the largest number of FPSOs ever hired by Petrobras in a single bid. WEG’s presence on the gas compressors market is marked by a history of several years supplying high-voltage motors to run in hazardous areas.
“This supply solidifies WEG’s position as one of the leaders in technology of rotating electrical machines and solutions for the Oil & Gas industry. We are committed to offer competitiveness in this market sector by means of innovative products with a sound quality policy”, emphasizes Valdemir Antônio Gonçalves, WEG’s International Sales Manager.
Master Line – Model MGW 800
The high-voltage squirrel cage motors are certified by Inmetro for operation in hazardous areas and have ABS certification for operation on vessels. They are self-ventilated, water cooled, pressurized, tropicalized and able to withstand operation in aggressive, marine, offshore and petrochemical environment exposed to the weather.
One of the advantages of this line is its manufacture, which allows different configurations of the cooling system and degree of protection, enabling the adaptation to the special operating conditions and sea environment.
