In line with its strategy of protecting the environment, WEG just planted 900 native trees on one back area of the manufacturing site II, along Itapocu River in Jaraguá do Sul, state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. 

The initiative counted on the help of two groups of volunteer employees from the company and coordinated by the technical team of WEG Reflorestadora. 

This project, which started in the early March, is intended to recover the riparian forest along the river. 

The first step consisted of removing the eucalyptus trees, which were affecting the growth of native forest, followed by the cleaning of the area and preparation of the soil to allow plantation of 29 different species of native trees. 

Every tree planted was identified and received a QRcode including information about the species, such as shape of the leaves and fruits, color of the flowers, the type of fauna living there, and the flowering and fruit life cycle. 

The activity followed all recommended protection measures for Covid 19, with limited participation of 20 volunteer employees in each group, social distance, mandatory use of masks and use of alcohol gel throughout the event. 

This initiative fully complies with the regulations of the Environment Institute of Santa Catarina, and encourages WEG's initiatives to promote sustainability for a cleaner world.
