Water is the foundation of life, sustaining ecosystems, agriculture, industry, and human health itself. It is a finite resource, which availability and quality are critical for the well-being of present and future generations.
In a world with increasing demand for natural resources, WEG seeks to operate with sustainable water management through efficient actions and solutions, contributing to a more sustainable future.
Reducing internal consumption is one of the initiatives adopted, with the implementation of efficient processes and equipment, consumption monitoring, leak control, and reuse of treated effluents. Some of the company's treatment plants enable 100% of this reuse, as is the case with the Linhares/ES effluent treatment plants.
Another example is rainwater harvesting, a practice employed at the WEG Museum in Jaraguá do Sul/SC, where rainwater is used for toilet flushing, saving more than 314m³ since its implementation.
The development of innovative solutions is also a focus of WEG's activities, with participation in hydroelectric plants and water and sanitation projects, including desalination, water treatment, wastewater treatment, and water transportation, ensuring safe supply for thousands of people. WEG's digital solutions enable remote monitoring in water pumping systems, providing fault diagnosis and problem anticipation, optimizing work, reducing losses, and ensuring efficient supply.
In terms of social engagement, WEG recently established a partnership to provide water, sanitation, and hygiene for children and adolescents in vulnerable situations. The company partnered with the UNICEF Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program to serve schools with the lowest coverage of access to sanitation services or suitable toilets for safe use in the peripheral region of Manaus/AM.
WEG believes that water management is everyone's commitment, and through joint efforts, it is possible to ensure the preservation of this vital resource for future generations.
And you, what have you done to take care of this most precious resource?
