WEG announced investments of approximately € 28 million in a new gearbox plant in the İzmir region, in Türkiye. This project aims to address the gearbox market demand and increase the Company's manufacturing capacity for components.

The investment is expected to be completed by 2027, increasing the gearbox manufacturing outside Brazil. The new plant will be established in a 12,000 m² building in the city of Manisa, which is 35 km from the city of Izmir, where Volt Electric Motors was recently acquired. This new plant will benefit from the synergies with the gearbox plant currently located in Austria, as well as the possibility of integrating the sales with the industrial electric motors manufactured in the country.

"We are optimistic about the growth potential of the industrial gearbox market in Türkiye and across Europe. This investment is a strategic step in our journey to expand our presence in the sector, strengthening our commitment to excellence in service, agility in deliveries and innovative solutions that meet the needs of our customers", highlights Rodrigo Fumo, Managing Director of Industrial Motors at WEG.

WEG has been selling its products in Türkiye for more than 20 years through local distributors. In 2021, it established its own local commercial structure and, in 2022, opened a new electric motor factory in the city of Dilovasi, near Istanbul. In December 2024, the company expanded its operations in the country by acquiring Volt Electric Motor, specialized in the production of industrial and commercial electric motors. Currently, the Company employs 750 employees in the country. With the new investments the Company expects to create 150 new jobs in Türkiye.
