WEG announced in June the acquisition of Instrutech Ltda., manufacturer of electronic sensors for industrial and commercial automation and for human protection.
It is the only Brazilian company that produces this type of equipment and solutions that are widely used while operating machinery in extreme working conditions. Such applications include power tools, plastic injection, wood cutting tables, packaging, conveyors, etc.
Instrutech is a family controlled company founded in 1985 and is headquartered in the capital of the state of São Paulo. In 2009, Instrutech’s total gross revenue was around $5.5 million US dollars.
The acquisition will complement WEG’s line of products with increased added value solutions, which were previously not offered. “This acquisition is aligned with our business strategy,“ says Mr. Harry Schmelzer Jr., WEG President and CEO. “Instrutech’s high quality products will strengthen our position in the market of automation integrated systems and enable us to continue growing in this segment“.
WEG has a wide range of products for the automation area: frequency inverters, soft-starters, relays, circuit breakers, capacitors, controls and signaling and control and automation systems as well as complete panels. The company has factories for these lines at its industrial sites in Jaraguá do Sul, where the Research and Development laboratory is located, and also in Itajaí, Mexico and Argentina.
