The Al Massira dam, located near the city of Marrakesh in Morocco, considered the second largest reservoir of drinking water in the country, has a storage capacity of more than two billion cubic meters. To reinforce production and access to this resource in a suitable form for consumption, a project was initiated by the Office National de l'Electricité et de l'Eau Potable (ONEE).
These works aim to meet the growing demand for drinking water by 2030 for the cities of Marrakesh, Al Haouz and Al Kelaa, and will benefit around two million people. The project will also meet the water supply needs for the mining company Office Chérifien de Phosphates (OCP), located in Ben Gueirr.
WEG has dedicated technology to develop efficient products and integrated solutions for the Water and Wastewater segment, products that stand out for their flexibility in projects, adapting to the most stringent requirements of customers in different applications. It was with this focus and expertise that WEG supplied ten W60 motors for this project, with output powers between 900 and 2,500 kW.
The W60 line motors feature an optimized and robust design, with excellent power density. They allow adjustments that guarantee high performance in environments with the most varied temperature ranges and they are designed for industrial applications such as compressors, pumps, fans and mills, being able to vary in speed and operation with frequency inverters and soft-starters.
