WEG deeply regrets to inform all of our friends that Mr. Eggon João da Silva, one of the 3 WEG founders, has passed away on September 13, 2015, in Jaraguá do Sul, Brazil at the age of 85.

Mr. Eggon’s legacy, along with the legacy of the other founders (Geraldo Weninghaus and Werner Voigt) continues to be reflected in WEG’s culture every day which has been key to the company’s global success and growth.

Today, WEG’s culture of discipline, community outreach and hard work is a direct reflection of Mr. Eggon which can be summarized by his most famous statement: “When you lack machines, you can buy them; if you do not have money, you can borrow it, but you cannot buy or borrow people and people who are motivated by an idea are the basis for success.”
