The contract signed with Eletronorte (Centrais Elétricas do Norte do Brasil S/A) - a subsidiary of Eletrobrás, responsible for the supply of electricity to the northern region of Brazil through utilities concessionaries - is the largest supply of WEG transformers to the company.
Two 60MVA, 230KV transformers and two 55MVA, 230KV autotransformers will be installed in the cities of Pimenta Bueno and Vilhena, in the state of Rondônia. The units are part of the utility strategy to increase the capacity of the State's isolated sub-system.
The supply is important due to the value of the contract of R$15 million and to the complexity of the machines, since the transformers weigh over 100 tons each. The package also includes type and special tests, in addition to the supply of replacement parts.
WEG also has two more similar transformers in production and is in the final stage of negotiations for the supply of another six power transformers for ELETRONORTE.
