The call was from one of WEG's distributors looking for a 37kw, 2 pole, 200 frame motor.
The end-user was one of Brisbane's largest bakeries, and they needed the motor to be operating that night, or NO BREAD ON SUNDAY!. Having rung around it appeared no-one had a motor available, and to make matters worse, WEG Queensland was in the same position! At this point the customers was prepared to airfreight a motor in from interstate that night - at ANY cost, as they had to have things going that night.
During one of the many phone calls that were being made, it was confirmed that the motor was being driven by a variable speed drive. Immediately this provided an avenue for another solution, and on checking all the mechanical and motor performance details, a proposal was put forward to install a 4 pole unit in lieu.
Question; How could we fit a 4 pole unit in place of the 2 pole motor? "Not a problem" - WEG manufacturers a 37kw 4 pole unit in a 200L frame as well as the 225S/M frame! The end user quickly rang the original manufacturer of the equipment to check on the possibility and suitability of this option, and to his delight was advised that the unit was originally designed for use with a 4 pole motor!. (Adjustments had been made because he thought he couldn't source a 37kw 4 pole motor in that size.)The KTE40MINE was picked up from the Brisbane warehouse about 7 p.m. Saturday evening, and the Bakery was back in business!
