Brazauro Recursos Minerais S/A, a subsidiary of G Mining Ventures Corp., has acquired a package of WEG solutions for the Tocantinzinho Project. This is one of the largest gold mining project in Brazil, located in Itaituba in Para state. It is an open-pit gold mine currently in the exploration phase, containing approximately two million ounces in gold reserves and an estimated ten years lifespan.
The initiative is committed to the socio-environmental development of the region and will receive WEG solutions that will significantly enhance the project’s efficiency. The scope of supply includes:
- 02 Rotating Synchronous Condensers with -15/+15 MVAr, 13.8 kV, 60 Hz
- 02 Condenser starting systems (Pony Motors)
- 02 Lubrication Oil Systems
- Field interconnection oil piping
- On-site mechanical assembly of condensers, pony motors, and interconnection piping
- 03 W60 Induction Motors, 800-frame, 6500 kW, 4.16 kV, 60 Hz
- 24 W22 Motors
- 08 W51HD Motors
- 02 MVW3000 Medium Voltage Drives, 9400 HP, 4.16 kV
- 22 Auxiliary Transformers ranging from 300 kVA to 6,250 kVA
- 02 32 MVA, 138 kV Step-up Transformers
- 01 5 MVAr, 138 kV Reactor
- Startup, commissioning, and training
The acquisition and installation of this equipment will provide the necessary infrastructure for the efficient operation of the mine.
The synchronous condensers, transformers, and reactor will be integrated into the plant’s substation. WEG’s rotating synchronous condensers are specifically designed to provide voltage support to electrical networks, and to increase the network inertia and short-circuit power capacity, improving the stability and voltage regulation in electrical power grids.
The W22 motors will power Slurry Pumps and Apron Feeders, ensuring efficient material handling within the plant. Meanwhile, the W51HD motors will be integrated into the Flotation Cell, playing a critical role in the ore separation and purification process, a key step in maximizing gold extraction.
The transformers will be remotely monitored by the WEG Power Transformer Specialist through dashboards, artificial intelligence and the cloud-based WEG Transformer Fleet Management platform. This enables precise asset and fleet management, ensuring operational continuity and safety.
The medium-voltage drives will enhance the performance of the SAG and ball mills. These machines are essential for the plant’s operation, particularly in the ore comminution (fragmentation) stage, which reduces solid materials into smaller particles.
For WEG, this supply underscores its technical capacity to deliver high-power and complex solutions to the mining segment. The partnership with Brazauro reinforces WEG's position as a benchmark in the mining sector, particularly for large-scale projects.
