WEG was, once again, one of the highlights in The Boston Consulting Group's (BCG) report as one of the Brazilian representatives on the Global Challengers list, which includes 100 of the fastest growing emerging market companies.
In the 2018 survey, Brazil added nine companies, which brings businesses together with the potential, to one day challenge the world leaders of their sectors. In the 2016 study, 11 national companies were classified.
To be on the list of emerging multinationals, the company must have revenues in the range of US$ 1 billion or more, employ a thousand or more employees, and generate a significant percentage of its revenues abroad with future expansion ambitions. BCG chooses the fastest growing companies based on their medium-term results, considering a period of three to five years.
Since 2005, the study identifies the Global Challengers that have grown faster than their competitors in different business sectors including electronics, household appliances, construction and engineering, industrial conglomerates, and real estate development.
In addition to WEG, eight other Brazilian companies were included in the report: Alpargatas BRF, Cielo, Embraer, Gerdau, Iochpe-Maxion, Natura and Votorantim.
Founded in 1963, BCG is one of the world's leading consulting companies for business strategy with 85 offices in 48 countries.
