WEG was the best classified in the 19th edition of the Guia Exame de Sustentabilidade, in the Capital Goods Sector. The research methodology and the data analysis was carried out by the Center for Sustainability Studies of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (GVces) in association with Exame Magazine.
The Exame Sustainability Guide, created in 2000, highlights the country's best corporate responsibility practices, classifying the participating companies according to the score in four different dimensions: general, economic, social and environmental.
WEG was the best ranked in the Capital Goods sector, with scores above the average in the indicators: water management, biodiversity management, and supplier management, governance of sustainability and community relations.
One of the themes of WEG that stood out this year was Innovation linked to the fight against climate change. As the project in partnership with Volkswagen for the development of the first 100% electric truck in Brazil, the company shows to be technologically prepared for the future, offering environmentally sustainable products to its customers.
"Research and Development are serious matters in the company In 2017 the company registered 155 patents for new technologies and products, 7% more than what was calculated in 2016, and almost all of them are solutions related to sustainability" explains Harry Schmelzer Jr., WEG CEO.
The award ceremony took place on November 22nd, in Sao Paulo, and was received by the Director of Comptroller Wilson José Watzko.
