During the 24th edition of Fenatran, the leading trade fair in Latin America for the road freight transport sector, WEG and HORSE announced the launch of the commercialization of the Range Extender (REX), an innovative system designed for decarbonization and energy efficiency. The signing of the Commercialization Agreement formalizes the partnership established in June 2024 through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and marks an important step toward expanding electrification.

The Range Extender, jointly developed by both companies, combines HORSE’s internal combustion engine with WEG’s electric power generator, offering a solution that increases the range of electric vehicles. The system was designed to address challenges related to charging infrastructure, operating efficiently in applications where electrification faces barriers such as cost, weight, and limited range.

The signing of this agreement represents a significant milestone in democratizing HORSE's electrification portfolio. We are excited about the business opportunities this partnership with WEG will bring, promoting decarbonization technologies in various markets,” highlighted Mateus Fonseca, HORSE’s Business Development Director.

Among the advantages of the Range Extender is its ability to significantly increase the range of electric-powered vehicles, with the potential to achieve carbon neutrality when powered by biofuels such as ethanol.

According to Carlos Grillo, Managing Director of WEG Digital & Systems: “This technology combines WEG’s expertise in power generation and electric vehicle traction with HORSE’s internal combustion engine, delivering a sustainable and efficient solution for the mobility of the future.”

Showcased at the WEG booth during Fenatran, the Range Extender demonstrates the companies' commitment to innovation and sustainability, contributing to the advancement of electric mobility in Brazil and globally.
