At the end of 2018, the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, received, at the National Palace, the president of Nestlé Mexico, the Brazilian Fausto Oliveira Costa. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the building of a new Nestlé manufacturing plant, according to the plan to expand the global production capacity of soluble coffee. At the meeting, it was mentioned that Nestlé Mexico was analyzing two possibilities to install the new plant: Brazil or Mexico. The Mexican president's response was positive and encouraging for the new plant to be built in his country.
Therefore, the new Nescafé processing plant will be located in the community of Santa Rita, in the municipality of Veracruz. Taking into account its dimensions, the plant was designed to produce more than 40,000 tons of coffee per year. To that end, WEG Transformers México was designated to conduct the EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) project, and it will supply the High Voltage (115kV) interconnection—composed of a 750-meter transmission line, a CFE Switchgear Substation, and Nestle Substation also in High Voltage—to power their Manufacturing processes safely and reliably. In addition to these solutions, adaptation works will be conducted in two other CFE substations (local energy utility company), called Veracruz II and Santa Fé.
In Nestlé's search for companies that could provide the construction of the substations and the transmission line necessary to meet the requirements related to power supply, WEG Transformers Mexico was chosen because of its vast experience and its employees’ technical knowledge, in addition to the infrastructure of the local facilities. That confirms WEG's relevant role in the electricity sector, through a history of reliability and quality in the services provided to the market around the world, reinforcing its increasingly solid position in the Mexican market.
