In line with WEG's objective of providing superior technical after sales service to their customers and products worldwide, WEG Australia combined their annual Australasian Motor and INAUGURAL Service Agent Conferences under the banner of "INITIATIVE 2002' at Wisemans Ferry 90Km" North West of Sydney in April of this year.

With the ever changing market conditions especially relative to the day to day business of the Service Agents WEG's Queensland Manager Mr. Richard Walker outlined to the attendees the benefits and sales opportunities that can be achieved by way of association with WEG and their roll in the supply and distribution channels to the end user market.

In total 37 attended the conference with service agents from all states in Australia along with special overseas guests from America, Brazil and New Zealand.

The agenda for the conference included special presentations from Mr. David Pipes, Vice President large machines and projects - WEG Electric Motors Corp. - USA who shared with the attendees his vast experiences within the motor industry worldwide, market trends, and WEGÂżs future plans in the larger machines sector along with examples of WEGÂżs successes in the American markets.

WEG's regional export Manager Mr. Djalma Wolf presented to the conference WEG's future plans in becoming the worldÂżs largest manufacturer of AC industrial three phase low voltage motors by 2007, WEG in the world today, along with updates on the companies commitments in R & D which will ensure that the companies objectives are met.

From across the Tasman WEG's New Zealand representative Metso Mineral's motor manager Mr. Kevin Thomas and Mr. Daniel Eidelwein Engineering Manager NZ attended with Mr. Thomas providing an overview of WEG's strong position in the New Zealand market and at the same time lending his support to the WEG Australia program.

WEG Australia's Engineering Manager Mr. Alex Sohler presented a series of workshops on the recent introduction of the 'MEPS, minimum efficiency performance standards and the new AS 3800 standard which relates to the repair, modifications and overhaul of hazardous location motors, along with new product opportunities which included DC motors and generators.

Based on the survey's taken at the conclusion of the conference all attendees indicated their support to the extent where it was stated that for future conferences could WEG make time available.

In closing WEG's Sales and Marketing Director Mr. Peter Weeding announced that due to the resounding success of the conference WEG Australia's Managing Director Mr. Romo Herzog has agreed to hold another conference in 2003 with dates and place to be advised.
